Riccardo Muti will receive an honorary degree in International Sciences of Cooperation on 5 October. The degree will be conferred by the University of Genoa, and as lectio magistralis Muti will conduct the orchestra of the Genoa Conservatory Niccolò Paganini. The orchestra will perform a piece from Beethoven’s third symphony.
The ceremony will take place at the Salone del Maggior Consiglio in Palazzo Ducale.
The laudatio, which will be delivered by Professor Alberto De Santis, will focus on the fact that Muti has made great efforts in the international arena for good relations between peoples. And not only as a conductor, but also as a man of culture. In fact, music is itself an international language. But in addition to this Muti also carried out activities with international organizations.
